Guillaume Orti is an amazing saxophonist and a prolific composer. He is active on the improvised music scene since the beginning of the 1990s. Co-founder of the Hask collective (1993-2005) and Mercoledi & Co (1996-2001), he has always highlighted collective creativity. As a composer as well as an improviser, he works on the relationship between music, dance, text, visual art…
He participated, among other, to the bands Reverse (with Olivier Sens), Mâäk Quintet, Caroline 5tet (dir. Sarah Murcia), The Progressive Patriots (dir. Hasse Poulsen), Thôt (dir. Stéphane Payen), Aka Moon... as well as several transcultural projects of the Fondation Royaumont involving musicians et slammers from Africa and France. In 2012 and 2013 he was artistic director of the European Saxophone Ensemble (12 young saxophonists from twelve different countries of the EU).
He is today a membre of Kartet (with Benoît Delbecq, Hubert Dupont and Samuel Ber), MegaOctet (dir. Andy Emler), Lefebvre <> Orti (with Jérôme Lefebvre), Duo Orti/Payen (with Stéphane Payen), MikMâäk (dir. Laurent Blondiau), Sylvain Cathala Septet, Blue Yonder (dir. Emmanuel Scarpa).
Within the D’un instant à l’autre Co. he participes to the following projects: D.U.O. (with Christine Bertocchi), À la croisée des voies (concerts-parcours dans des lieux patrimoniaux disigned with C. Bertocchi), Chemins Sonnants (trail-concerts in forêts designed with C. Bertocchi and Didier Petit), Twinning (visual and sound Franco-Hungarian project), …ence (personal project with B. Delbecq, Bon Grossman, François Verly and Nathan Wouters).
