Probably one of the most demanded drummer in France, Gautier Garrigue is born in 1987 in Perpignan. He studied drums and guitar at the conservatory until he graduated in 2002. He then moved to Paris and quickly made a name for himself on the French and international jazz scene.
He plays and records with Flash Pig, Henri Texier, David Enhco, Seamus Blake, The Drops, Baptiste Trotignon, Belmondo brothers, Franck Amsallem, Hermon Mehari, Marie Kruttli... but also Yaron Herman, Vincent Peirani, Michel Portal, Émile Parisien, Theo Croker, Thomas Enhco, Logan Richardson, Bojan Z, Géraldine Laurent, Paul Lay, Soweto Kinch, Walter Smith III, Christian Scott, Chris Cheek, Jakob Bro, Uri Caine, Ben Van Gelder, Pablo Held, Paolo Fresu, David Kikoski, Kyle Eastwood...
At the age of 36, he has already recorded some forty albums, including Heteroklite Lockdown, Sand Woman, Chance and recently An Indian’s Life by Henri Texier, Seamus Blake's Guardians of the Heart Machine, David Enhco's Family Tree, Hermon Mehari's Asmara and The Mood for Love by Flash Pig, a band of which he is co-leader.
In parallel to his career as a musician, he taught from 2008 to 2012 at the Bill Evans Piano Academy in Paris, has been teaching at the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood since 2013 and recently at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He also participates in numerous masterclasses around the world
At the end of 2023, he recorded La Traversée, his first album as leader, bringing together for the first time Henri Texier, Émile Parisien, Vincent Lê Quang, Federico Casagrande, Maxime Sanchez and Florent Nisse. This first opus of original compositions will be released in autumn 2024 by PeeWee Records.
